Welcome to The Seed Box, an environmental humanities collaboratory funded by mistra and formas
The Seed Box is an international environmental humanities collaboratory headquartered at Linköping University (LiU) in Sweden. Supported with generous funding from Mistra, the Swedish Foundation for Strategic Environmental Research, and Formas, the Swedish Research Council for Environment, Agricultural Sciences, and Spatial Planning, the Seed Box takes as its mission the development of a national center for environmental humanities research across the nature-culture divide, and creative activity related to solving today’s pressing environmental problems. We cultivate especially feminist- and environmental justice-oriented more-than-human humanities.
We call ourselves a “collaboratory” because collaboration and experimentation—across disciplines, across borders—is key to our creation of an inter/national network of environmental humanities scholarship, citizen activism, teaching, and praxis. Together with 12 other consortium universities (in Australia, Canada, the Netherlands, the UK, and the USA) as well as numerous external network partners, the Seed Box supports a number of large projects and initiatives, including the creation of a Ph.D.- and postdoctoral fellowship program, the funding of a number of environmental humanities projects, the hosting of visiting students and scholars here at LiU, and the supporting of various symposia, workshops, and conferences around the world.
